Elevating The Boat Works

The Boat Works on the Gold Coast has become a world-leading marine facility, renowned for its state-of-the-art infrastructure and environmental practices. Spanning 55 acres and home to over 1,000 skilled professionals, it’s Australia’s largest and most environmentally friendly yacht refit and maintenance center. The latest addition to its offerings is the innovative Watersheds facility, which provides covered, in-water refit solutions for large vessels. The new facility features two 100-meter-long chutes, offering sheltered berths and a protected environment for maintenance and refits. This expansion enhances productivity, helps meet tight deadlines, and ensures the highest standards of service.

Sea Spray Marine is excited to be part of this new era at The Boat Works and cannot wait to take advantage of the Watersheds facility for future projects. Already, the new facility has proven its value, with Chapman Yacht Management using it to re-launch the 100-foot ‘SEA RAES’ ahead of schedule. Additionally, vessels like ‘BATAIVIA’ and ‘PLEIADES II’ have experienced faster turnarounds and improved efficiency thanks to the sheltered berths.

The Boat Works is not just about providing world-class facilities—it’s also a hub for local employment. With projects like the ambitious refit of the former Australian Navy ship ‘JeMaSa,’ up to 100 new jobs are expected to be created. The development supports local businesses and contributes to the economic growth of the region, with more marine businesses expanding and relocating to the area.

This growth aligns with the Queensland Superyacht Strategy, which predicts a 90% growth in the Australian superyacht sector by 2028, cementing Queensland’s position as a major hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sea Spray Marine looks forward to contributing to and benefiting from this incredible development, which continues to set new standards for the marine industry.

If you’ve ever noticed a dull, powdery residue on your boat’s hull, you’ve encountered 'chalkiness' —a common issue for boat owners, especially those who have fiberglass or gel-coated finishes. While chalking is a natural result of weathering, UV exposure, and oxidation, it doesn’t have to be permanent. With the right care and products, the crew at Sea Spray can restore your boat’s shine and protect it from further damage.

Boat maintenance is crucial in Australia due to the country’s unique environmental conditions and the demanding maritime lifestyle. With its expansive coastlines, intense UV radiation, and variable weather patterns, regular maintenance becomes essential for preserving the integrity, performance, and safety of vessels. Companies like Sea Spray play a vital role in helping boat owners stay on top of their maintenance needs.
